Loktak Lake

Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, located in the state of Manipur. It is world-famous for its unique floating islands called “phumdis,” which support diverse flora, fauna, and human settlements. The lake is also home to the remarkable Keibul Lamjao National Park, the world’s only floating national park and the last natural habitat of the endangered Sangai deer. Surrounded by hills and scenic landscapes, Loktak Lake offers breathtaking sunrise and sunset views, making it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers. Visitors can enjoy boating, birdwatching, and exploring local fishing communities living on the floating islands.
